Contractor Co-ordinator

The Contractor & Health & Safety Co-ordinator supports Engineering Department through managing all aspects of contractor planning, managing Site visits of contractors and all related Health & Safety matters relating to contractors.

The position is responsible for planning, organising, and managing contractor preventative maintenance, calibrations, and reactive work activities. The position is also responsible for providing a safe operating environment and complying with current Health and Safety regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities include –

Contractor Management

  • Responsible for managing contractor visits and co-ordinate with the work management team to ensure availability of equipment, areas, parts, and tools are organised and planned.
  • Responsible for managing contractor compliance with Health and Safety regulations which include the running of inductions, maintenance of training records and RAMS.
  • Review the contractors proposed method of working during planning process and prior to issuing work permits to ensure contractors have accurate and compliant systems and methods of work.
  • Ensure contractors always work in a safe and compliant manner while on site.
  • Ensure contractors understand requirements of working within a GMP facility and work to good engineering and manufacturing practices.
  • Ensure the quality of works undertaken by contractors is to the right standard and right first time through review of works.
  • Support engineering by taking lead and taking actions from the site safety panel.
  • Support contractor organisation and work planning, before and during shutdown and outages.
  • Review Health and Safety policies to ensure safe systems of work are in place.
  • Assist in the creation of PPM’s (planned preventative maintenance) for contractor works, ensuring all service works have PPMs in conjunction with the service contract.
  • Creation of reactive work orders to cover breakdown contractors works and all followed up works are planned in and documented
  • Document compliance by:
    • Completing and recording test results
    • Collating and filing reports and certification
    • Preparing and filing Declarations of Conformity
    • Maintain compliance database with all documentation kept current.
  • Continuously review latest Health and Safety legislation and practices to ensure job knowledge and understanding is kept current.

Health and Safety

  • Responsible for providing a safe operating environment, complying with current Health and Safety regulations.
  • Perform assessments of assets and where necessary develop and implement improvements in procedures to ensure compliance with the LOLER, PUWER, PSSR etc. regulations with respect to asset registration, management, inspection, and maintenance.
  • As the point of contact for SHERPA (Site Safety Database) work closely with the site SHE
  • (Safety, Health and Environmental) department to investigate, record and make recommendations regarding any health and safety issue arising from contractor activity.
  • Identify Health and Safety training requirements for BPL employees and contractors and organise training either with external providers or through the training department.
  • Support training requirements, record attendance on Health and Safety courses and support accuracy of engineering training database.
